Permanent Makeup Ombre Powder Brows in Huntington Beach
Ombre powder brows are a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that uses a machine to place tiny dots of pigment, creating a soft, shaded brow that looks like lightly applied brow powder. They are a good fit for people who want fuller, defined brows without daily makeup, including those with sparse or uneven brows and those with oily skin.
What is Ombre Powder Brows?
Ombre powder brows, sometimes called powder brows or ombre brows, are a form of permanent makeup. Using a fine cosmetic tattoo machine, pigment is deposited in the upper layer of the skin as many tiny dots. The result is a gradient effect: the front of the brow stays light and airy, while the body and tail are more defined, similar to a brow filled in with powder or pencil. Because the pigment sits in the skin, it slowly fades over time rather than lasting forever like a traditional tattoo.
The main difference from microblading is the technique. Microblading uses a hand tool to cut fine hair-like strokes, while ombre powder brows build up soft shading with a machine. Shading often holds up better on oily or combination skin, where hair strokes can blur, and it suits people who like a more polished, filled-in look. Every service at CAIR SPA is performed under the oversight of Tran Plastic Surgery, led by Dr. Tuan Tran, a triple board-certified plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon whose practice is in the same Huntington Beach building.

How Ombre Powder Brows works at CAIR SPA
Consultation
We talk about the brow shape and color you want, your skin type, health history, medications and any previous brow tattooing, so we can confirm that the treatment is right for you.
Brow mapping and color
Your brows are measured and drawn on to suit your face, and a pigment shade is chosen to complement your hair and skin tone. You approve the shape before anything begins.
Numbing and shading
A topical numbing product is applied, then pigment is layered in with a machine to create the soft ombre gradient, lighter at the front and more defined toward the tail.
Touch-up visit
Once the skin has healed, usually about 6–8 weeks later, a touch-up visit fills in any patchy areas and fine-tunes the shape and depth of color.
Before, during and after
Every plan is personalized. Your provider will walk you through preparation and aftercare at your consultation.
Before
Come with your natural brows if possible so we can see your shape. Let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have used isotretinoin recently, tend to form keloids, or have any skin conditions or medical conditions, since some people may need to wait or may not be candidates. Your provider makes the final call. We will also share simple prep tips, such as skipping brow waxing or tinting and limiting alcohol in the days before. Never stop a prescribed medication without asking your doctor.
During
After numbing, most people feel pressure, light scratching or a vibrating sensation rather than sharp pain. Sensitivity varies from person to person, and more numbing can be added along the way. The full appointment, including mapping, often takes 2–3 hours.
After
Brows typically look darker and bolder at first, then flake and soften over about 4–6 weeks as the skin heals. Keep them dry, do not pick or scratch the flakes, and avoid heavy sweating, direct sun, swimming pools, the ocean and saunas during early healing. You can usually return to normal daily activities right away.

Ombre Powder Brows questions, answered

Call (949) 688-5898How much do ombre powder brows cost?
Price depends on your plan, including whether you are starting fresh or correcting older brow work and how many touch-ups you may need. We give you an exact quote at your free consultation.
Is there downtime after ombre powder brows?
Most people go back to work and everyday routines right away. Your brows will look darker than the final result for the first week or so, and they flake as they heal over about 4–6 weeks. Plan around events, workouts and swimming during that early window.
How long do ombre powder brows last?
Results often last about 1–3 years, though this varies with skin type, sun exposure and skincare. Oily skin, frequent sun and exfoliating products such as retinoids or acids can fade pigment faster. Many people choose a color refresh when the brows start to look lighter.
Does getting ombre powder brows hurt?
A topical numbing product is used, so most people describe the feeling as mild scratching or pressure. Comfort levels vary, and we can pause or reapply numbing as needed.
What is the difference between ombre powder brows and microblading?
Microblading creates fine hair strokes with a hand tool, while ombre powder brows use a machine to build soft, shaded color. Powder brows often suit oily or combination skin better and give a more filled-in, makeup-like look. We can help you decide which style matches your skin and goals.
Who is a good candidate for ombre powder brows?
Healthy adults who want fuller, more defined brows with less daily makeup are often good candidates. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have used isotretinoin recently, have active skin conditions on the brows, tend to form keloids or have certain medical conditions may need to wait or may not be candidates. Your provider will review your history at your consultation.
