Thread Lift in Huntington Beach
A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that places fine, dissolvable threads under the skin to gently lift and support mild to moderate sagging, most often in the cheeks, jawline, brows or neck. It is a good fit for adults who want a subtle lift without surgery and who are not yet ready for, or do not want, a facelift.
What is Thread Lift?
Thread lifts typically use threads made from absorbable materials such as polydioxanone (PDO), a material with a long history of use in surgical sutures. Some threads have tiny barbs or cones that grip the tissue under the skin so it can be repositioned upward. Over the following months the threads gradually dissolve, and the body's healing response around them can encourage some new collagen, which may help support the result.
A thread lift is not a substitute for a surgical facelift, and the lift is more modest and temporary. For the right person, though, it can offer a refreshed, more lifted look with a much shorter recovery. Thread lifts at CAIR SPA are performed under the oversight of Tran Plastic Surgery, led by Dr. Tuan Tran, a triple board-certified plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon, so you can also discuss surgical options if they would better match your goals without leaving our Huntington Beach building.

How Thread Lift works at CAIR SPA
Consultation
We assess your skin quality, degree of laxity and facial anatomy, review your health history and discuss whether a thread lift, another treatment or a surgical option fits your goals best.
Mapping and numbing
The treatment areas are marked and cleansed, and local anesthetic is used to numb the entry points and thread paths.
Thread placement
Threads are inserted beneath the skin with a fine needle or cannula, then gently adjusted to lift and support the tissue before the ends are trimmed.
Recovery and follow-up
You receive detailed aftercare instructions, and we check your healing and results at a follow-up visit.
Before, during and after
Every plan is personalized. Your provider will walk you through preparation and aftercare at your consultation.
Before
Tell us about all medications and supplements. You may be asked to avoid blood thinners not prescribed by a doctor, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and alcohol, for several days to reduce bruising. Plan a few quieter days afterward if possible.
During
The area is numbed, so most people feel pressure, tugging and some pinching rather than sharp pain. You stay awake and can usually go home the same day.
After
Swelling, bruising, tenderness and a feeling of tightness are common and often settle within a few days to a week or two. Mild puckering or irregularity can occur early and usually smooths out. For about two weeks, you may be advised to sleep on your back, avoid wide mouth opening, facial massage, dental work and strenuous exercise.
Expert oversight you can trust
All services are performed under Tran Plastic Surgery. Tran Plastic Surgery is led by Dr. Tuan Tran, who is triple board-certified in plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery, and is located in our building at 20951 Brookhurst St.

Call (949) 688-5898How much does a thread lift cost?
Price depends on your plan, including the areas treated and the number and type of threads needed. You receive an exact quote at your free consultation.
What is the downtime after a thread lift?
Many people return to most daily activities within a few days, though swelling and bruising can take up to a week or two to fully settle. You will need to follow activity restrictions for about two weeks to protect the result.
How long do thread lift results last?
Results vary, but they often last around 1 year or more, depending on the threads used, your skin quality and your age. The threads dissolve over time, and some people choose touch-up treatments to maintain the effect.
Does a thread lift hurt?
Local anesthetic is used, so most people feel pressure and tugging rather than pain. Some soreness or tenderness is common for several days afterward and can usually be managed with simple measures we will discuss.
Who is a good candidate for a thread lift?
Thread lifts tend to work best for adults with mild to moderate sagging and reasonably good skin quality. People with significant laxity may get better results from surgery, and the procedure is not recommended during pregnancy or with active skin infections in the area.
What are the possible side effects?
Common effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness and temporary dimpling. Less common issues include infection, visible or palpable threads, asymmetry or a thread end poking through, which may need adjustment. We review risks with you in detail before treatment.
